Medicaid
Medicaid is a program jointly funded by both federal and state dollars, but is administered by the states. The program was designed to help those with low-incomes and limited resources cover their healthcare expenses. Medicaid eligibility will vary slightly by state.
The Children’s Health Insurance Program, also known as CHIP, is an expansion of Medicaid. This program helps ensure no child goes without health insurance coverage.
The most recent numbers from The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) show that about one out of five Americans are on some form of Medicaid.
